Crazy that Christmas is just a few days away! This year we went "all out" compared to years before. Many of you already know that John and I were raised without Christmas, and that we've only been celebrating it for a few years, with the gifts portion beginning just a couple years ago. I'm so glad we started this tradition, I only wish we had started sooner! It's such a joy playing the Christian Christmas songs, getting ready, baking and making decorations together, and most of all watching the kids so excited on Christmas morning. But I cannot talk about Christmas too much yet, I still have to catch you up on Fall! It was a regular Autumn here. John helped out in the fields during a longer then normal harvest season. It was a long harvest this year for all the farmers because we kept getting rain here in the Midwest. I was blessedly "slammed" as they say with Autumn sessions, I'm pretty sure this was my most booked October and November to date. What a blessing! Jael got an early Christmas present this Fall. Starting the first of November she began ballet lessons. I've been budgeting this in for more then a year, peeps, so this is exciting! She's such a natural out there (in my proud mama opinion). It's been such a wonderful experience, so over the next year I'm hoping to budget for the rest of the kids to get lessons. We don't take a summer school break, instead we take a Fall break, but it's not a complete break. We enjoy Fall "half days". I know, I know, I'm a mean mom. It's just that I've researched and found that kids loose 2 to 3 months worth of education (primarily reading and math skills) over the traditional breaks. I just feel like that's a lot of wasted work for kids and teachers! So we always do math and reading/language arts year round. This year we had a much warmer then usual fall here in the Midwest. This means there were lot's of Charlotte Mason style nature studies in addition to the math and language arts. Although we are not using a strictly Charlotte Mason learning style our curriculum does around 1/3 CM, which I think is the kids favorite aspect to it! Speaking of our curriculum, because of it, when it was time for full school days to resume we were able to jump right in with very little hassle (seriously cannot pitch it enough, it's amazing). Homeschooling mama's, and mama's thinking about homeschooling, stay tuned because I'm going to do a post soon about it! It's official, Gabriel is a MATH WIZ! After having two kids that are stronger in the arts and English, it's super fun to have a numbers kid. I've always marveled at people that were naturally good with numbers. Don't you just love how everyone is unique, with their own special strengths? One thing different this year is Isabel seems to have found her place in our homeschool routine. Before she was super disruptive, as any toddler would be, and I had to consistently adjust the day around her naps and Justin Time (her favorite show). Although it worked fine academically speaking for the kids I on the other hand felt a little scattered. But this Fall she became far more independent. She entertains herself and every now and then she loves doing "sool" with the big kids! Lately she's taken an interest in writing letters. Every day she insists on my help with writing dozens of w's and a few d's. Daniel is only four right now, but he's almost halfway through Kindergarten math! He LOVES school. Is there anyone else out there who's heart just melts watching those little hands learning to write? I think it's the most adorable thing. Let's see, what else is new....John's been getting lot's of orders which has been wonderful! You can visit his website HERE to see what he's been up to. With the photography rush I kind of slowed down with marketing for him, but I'll be picking back up with that in January. In the meantime his business isn't hurting, so that's awesome! And my health business is thriving, which has been a blessing! My business has reached 24 team members since June and is still growing. I thank God for this opportunity consistently. When I hear testimonies from people who are finding healing I cannot help but get happy tears in my eyes. And of course another benefit is being able to get the family on some of the best supplements out there.
Well, Friends and Family, I know I've been a bad blogger through the fall season. But the good news is I have several drafts in the making which I will be scheduling to post on a more regular basis. So we will see you here again soon I hope! Please leave a comment if you feel so inclined. Until next time, God Bless!
